I want to establish a strong infrastructure for this team that revolves around formations. The very definition of formation is “the process by which something develops or takes a particular shape.” Splatoon has so much potential competitively if you take advantage of formations because of how much freedom there is compared to other shooters. For me, formations mean taking every weapon a team has in its arsenal and guiding it to the place where it will be most effective in conjunction with other weapons. I also feel that in order for formations to actually work, every viewpoint must be noted and incorporated if needed from teammates. Thus, my formation infrastructure. Here is an example.
[Map Name Here] Formations
Notes: These will be added to every single formation list and are just general things you should be aware about, not being stage specific. This will most likely be first administered by your captain, then revised and edited by everyone here if need be.
Stuff To Expect: This is stage wisdom, people. You guys might put up three or four different STEs for one stage based on if you are playing more than one mode competitively.
Offensive Formation 1:
Part A: Weapon/Weapon/Weapon/Weapon. Opening, right off the bat. What does a person do? Where do they go? Are there escorts? How do I deal with pressure?
Part A Advice: Note side routes and novel things a person can do that is not noted in the formation. Should I flank here given opportunity? Is there a chance for ambush here?
Part B: It depends on the map. It could be clean-up. It might be the final push to claim the enemy zone.
Part B Advice: You know the drill.
Part C: This more or less is overkill formations, that might work, but would generally be regarded as unsportsmanlike (spawn camping comes to mind.)
General Consensus: This is most of the opinions on this formation wrapped up in a neat little bundle. Everything widely accepted about the quality of this formation will go here.
Recovery Formations:
Note: Concerns or notes regarding recovering on whatever stage this applies to. The total amount of recovery formations is equal to or greater than the amount of offensive formations. (For you math nerds out there RF≥OF)
A: Weapon/ Weapon/ Weapon/ Weapon. Blabber all you want here. The weapon set up is what will determine what recovery we are going to use.
B: Weapon/ Weapon/ Weapon/ Weapon. Blabber all you want here. The weapon set up is what will determine what recovery we are going to use.
C: Weapon/ Weapon/ Weapon/ Weapon. Blabber all you want here. The weapon set up is what will determine what recovery we are going to use.
And that is pretty much it. I will be writing up most of the stuff here (if you accept me into your most prestigious squad,) but the reason why I refer to all of you when I am talking about the progress on formations is because you will be the ones making suggestions. The beauty about all of this is that at any time Captain will be able to ask me to make a formation based on [blank] weapons and I will gladly deliver. So, yeah. My contact details are below.
