Bluefin Depot Formation
Of all the stages in Splatoon, Bluefin Depot is where my win % is the highest. Probably because there are only 2 (very minor) curved surfaced. A roller's paradise.
Weapon choice isn't set in stone, as I would prefer you to use the weapon you personally perform best with. If I had to pick a family of 4 weapons though, I'd go with 1 Krak-on Roller, 1 .96 Gal, 1 .96 Gal Deco, and 1 Custom E-liter 3K.
When the match starts, we'll naturally head towards the splatzone following the paths outlined in pink. The Krak-on Roller and Custom E-liter 3K will both drop a beacon at the red circle (or somewhere around there) for later use, the .96 Gal Deco will throw a splash wall on one of the areas indicated with a pink line, and the .96 Gal will throw a sprinkler on the metal bridge hanging overhead. The Custom E-Liter 3K does not jump down to the splatzone level for obvious reasons, but rather snipes from above.
Unlike other maps, it's not essential that we take the splatzone first. However, it IS essential that we do not let the enemy team climb up our walls. If we win the initial battle for the zone, the .96 Gal stays at the splatzone to defend it while the .96 Gal Deco climbs up to the level above the splatzone (let's call this level 2). Don't get too close to the wall, since this puts you in a position where the opposing team can splat you from above without giving you time to react. Rather, take this chance to destroy any beacons they may have set up, build up special, and splat them the moment they jump down (with your Kraken if necessary). If an enemy slips through, we have the .96 Gal defending the zone. If the .96 Gal and the .96 Gal Deco are both splatted, superjump to the beacons set up earlier.
In the meantime, if the Krak-on Roller or the Custom E-liter 3K get splatted or if we win the initial battle for the splatzone, they will both take the path outlined in pink below.
The Custom E-liter 3K, takes his position atop the ramp closer to our spawn point (marked with a green dot) and snipes in relative safety, while building up special, discouraging the opponents from using the alternate route, and setting up beacons as necessary. The Krak-on roller stops as he rolls past the + shaped structure, walks out of his own ink, and places a beacon where the red dot is before walking back to his ink and continuing. This beacon usually goes undetected, even in A+ lobbies, as it is not in ink. Since I main the Krak-on roller on this stage, I tend to make myself useful once everything is set up by camping on their level 2 with Ninja Squid, as all opponents must pass that area to reach the splat zone.
Our .96 Gal has an Echolocator, and we also have 3 Krakens. On the level where the splat zone is, the Kraken is supremely overpowered simply because it's a confined area with no real escape route. The most common and effective defense against a Kraken is the plastic area behind the curved ramp, since the Kraken can't swim across it. If you know beforehand that your target will go for that plastic area, it becomes easier to cut him off. Furthermore, going behind the ramp puts him in the easiest possible position to get headshotted by our Custom E-liter 3K, as he cannot swim on the plastic either.
So there you have it! Please take all this with a grain of salt. It is simply a framework for what an effective formation would look like on this map in my mind. We've all reached A+ with our own methods, weapons and strategies, and I do not want this to limit our creativity. I'm confident we will win have a ridiculous win ratio on this map regardless of how closely we follow this formation.
